The Space.

The Grain Store is a beautifully restored former granary set in flawless English countryside. Light-filled interiors are elegantly refined and incorporate luxury amenities and eco-conscious design. Three beautifully appointed bedrooms sleep six guests comfortably, with space for an extra two guests in a separate studio bedroom. A roof terrace, alfresco dining patio, manicured lawn and premium hot tub comprise the perfect garden sanctuary, all set beside sensational panoramic views across the South Downs National Park.

Living. Cooking. Dining.

The Grain Store living space comprises a seamless open plan design. Polished concrete floors and double height ceilings combine for a sleek, airy feel, while large Crittall windows invite abundant natural light and rural vistas. Cooks will love the modern kitchen in sage green, perfectly appointed with a breakfast bar, coffee machine, locally-sourced utensils, an energy-efficient Everhot stove and underfloor heating. A vast Maker & Son corner sofa and armchairs could seat a whole family, ideal for lounging, reading or watching the smart HDTV. Beside this is a hand-crafted oak dining table, the stage for family feasts, chatter and games. A snug mezzanine area has a comfy sofa, ‘fluffy’ chairs and doors onto the roof terrace. The Grain Store’s separate studio accommodation is available for an additional two guests and offers a well-equipped kitchenette, cosy living room and private garden.

Sleeping Quarters.

In the quiet of the English countryside The Grain Store’s three gorgeous bedrooms offer the perfect sleep sanctuary, each offering organic, fairtrade bedding for that extra peace of mind at night.

Bedroom 1. Situated on the ground floor, the main bedroom has an Indigo king-size bed with hypoallergenic mattress and an ensuite wet room. The room is suitable for wheelchair users.

Bedroom 2. Also on the ground floor, the second bedroom has an Indigo king-size bed, hypoallergenic mattress, and beautiful garden views.

Bedroom 3. On the first floor beside the mezzanine, this twin room comprises two single beds complete with hypoallergenic mattress and bedding.

Bedroom 4. A separate studio bedroom adjacent to The Grain Store offers additional sleeping space for two guests, with a luxury three-piece bathroom and well appointed kitchen.

Bathrooms. There is a three-piece family bathroom with a bath, shower, and toilet on the ground floor. The ensuite to the main bedroom comprises a shower and toilet; and a first floor bathroom completes the set with a shower room, toilet and basin.

The Garden.

The outdoor setup at The Grain Store is homestay perfection. Fire up the custom brick BBQ, spend alfresco evenings on the patio, or enjoy drinks on the mezzanine roof terrace. A large, private lawn, bordered by tall grass and wildflowers, is ideal for frolicking and games. Or soak under the stars in the luxurious hot tub, which sits in a secluded and inviting position on wooden decking. All this set amongst those panoramic countryside views, a true escape from life’s hustle and bustle.

Locally.

Set in the heart of the East Sussex countryside on the famous South Downs Way, it’s hard to imagine a better rural position than that of The Grain Store. Take beautiful walks from your doorstep through rolling hills, forests, rivers and cliff tops. Or up-the-action with a spot of mountain biking, horse-riding, swimming or paragliding. The traditional market town of Lewes is a ten minute drive to the East with its medieval castle, museums, antique & homeware boutiques, and chic tearooms. Further afield is the seaside town of Brighton, offering bohemian culture, a vibrant pebble beachfront and the classic arcades and rides along the iconic pier. This plus much more is all to be explored during your stay at The Grain Store.

Sustainably.

The Grain Store has sustainability at its core. Solar panels and an air-source heat pump deliver clean and renewable energy, an onsite charging point is available to EV drivers, and furnishings and products are carefully selected to be locally-sourced, energy efficient, and socially positive. In the garden, wildflowers and grasses provide critical habitat for bees, insects and other wildlife. And to ensure what comes out of the home is as good as what goes in, The Grain Store provides comprehensive recycling facilities.

Historically.

The Grain Store’s history is all in the name; a former farm granary used to store grain during the harvest period. In 2017, after decades of disuse, the owners embarked on an ambitious conversion, restoring the structure into a stunning, eco-friendly and modern holiday home. The project retained the original barn footprint and repurposed much of the building’s materials for the new construction. The result is a beautiful, spacious, curated home combining glass and aged cedar cladding to fit harmoniously into its rural surroundings.
